Accounts Receivable — Credit Application Reversal
Undo a credit or COA application posted via Apply Credits.

Overview

Credit Application Reversal removes (reverses) a prior application of an AR Credit or Cash‑on‑Account (COA) to an invoice. Use this screen when a credit was applied to the wrong invoice, the wrong amount was applied, or the transaction needs to be undone before re‑applying correctly.

At the Original Credit prompt you can press / to view a list of the customer's original credit/COA items and select the correct one.

Prompts & Fields

  • Customer — Auto‑filled after selecting the credit.
  • 1. Original Credit — The credit/COA reference to reverse. Use / to list available items.
  • Applied Date — Date the credit was originally applied (display).
  • Applied Amount — Amount that was applied (display).
  • Applied To — Invoice number that received the application (display).
  • 2. Reversal Date — Posting date for the reversal.

Footer commands: Line# to jump, Quit, Reverse to post the reversal.

Reverse an Application — Steps

  1. At Original Credit, enter the reference or press / to pick from the list.
  2. Confirm the displayed Applied Date, Amount, and Applied To invoice.
  3. Enter the Reversal Date (in an open accounting period).

Notes

  • This function reverses the application only; it does not delete the original credit/COA.
  • Consider printing an audit report after completing reversals for the day (see Reports Menu).

Troubleshooting

  • Credit not found → Use / to search; verify the customer and that the credit still exists.
  • Posting blocked by period → Choose a Reversal Date within an open accounting period.
